Farm Boys

The other day the boys and I went outside to bottle feed a little calf who was having trouble drinking from his mom. The boys had fun exploring all around the cow squeeze...Armin especially liked the meow, meow and hauled poor Lola all over! What a good cat to put up with a two year old hauling it around pretty much upside down!! They are sweet boys, I am so thankful for them in my life. Even though they are busy and at times make me want to pull all of my hair out...they are both so tender hearted, just like their dad! I love them to pieces and I truly look forward to the years ahead to see how they grow and what personalities they will develop! I better stock up on the hair dye or before I know it I will be totally grey way before my time!!!

Happy, Happy Birthday Emry!

Friday May 3 was Emry's 9th Birthday!  Where has the time gone...thankfully Armin looks so much like Emry did when she was little, so it is easier to remember those days that have long since passed!

I had to work on her birthday, which she was quite sad about, but Grandma Puzey took the kids into Lethbridge where they met Auntie Rachel, Liam and Jonas at McDonald's to play and then they all went shopping at Walmart!  Emry had a fun day!  When Jared and I got home from work we had Enchiladas for supper and then some yummy long john donuts for dessert!

Emry is still terrified of sparklers...but it is fun to see her reaction!

On Saturday Jared had to work but I didn't so I promised Emry we would have a special girls day in the city!  We decided to go up to Calgary so the boys could hang out with Grandpa Glen.  After dropping them off, Emry and I headed over to South Centre Mall.  She had a blast going from store to store looking at everything!  I think she is going to be quite the shopper as she gets older!  She picked three things at the mall that she wanted for her birthday...first an owl necklace, second a pair of silver sparkly shoes, and third a Merida doll from Brave complete with her cape and bow and arrow!  I was even more happy to buy her the things she wanted because they were all on sale!!!  We decided to have lunch at the mall food court because we spent so much time shopping we were famished!!

It was a fun day with a special girl!  I am so thankful for her in our lives and I look forward to the years ahead, only I do wish they would come just a little slower!

On Sunday we had an official family birthday dinner for Emry!  In attendance were Grandma Debbie and Mark, Grandma Puzey, Grandpa Glen, Auntie Arren, Gilbert and Lily!  We had her favourite meal...Salmon, and super yummy roasted potatoes (thanks to Char for the great recipe!), veggies, a seven layer dip that Mark made, and lemonade!  All of it was soooooo good, I even got many compliments, that's always good for the ego!!  For dessert we had Emry's other favourite, no bake cheesecake with fresh raspberries and strawberries!  It was fun to be with family and celebrate such a sweet little girl!  She truly has brought so much joy to our lives.  She is so helpful around the house, especially when it comes to her brothers.  She loves to help daddy outside with whatever he is doing, but most especially with the cows!  She is smart and funny, she is beautiful inside and out and most importantly she is continually striving to the best she can be!  We love her to pieces!

Too Early For It to Be a Bad Day

Jared went out early this morning to take the water tank out to the cows before he left for work. It had been filling through the night and by the time he remembered to turn it off it had overflowed a bit. When he did go out this morning he got in the tractor and started to drive away (the tank overflowed and made the ground wet under the trailer and then it froze quite hard through the night causing the one tire to be stuck in the frozen muddy ground), as he drove away the tire stayed in the ground and snapped off the trailer. Jared ended up draining the tank into our back yard and running hoses from our house out to the trough in the corrals for the cows to have water. He was able to do all this before he left for work at 7:30! Poor guy, not a great start to his day! It seems we have been having more and more trouble with water here on the home quarter. I think it is time to spend the money and trench a line from the well to join in with the co-op line so all we have to do is turn a valve on and the cows can have water from the well when the co-op is down.

One plus, now that our yard is so wet from draining the tank, it will be easier to level and seed our grass!
