For Family Day we decided to take the kids swimming! We just weren't sure where!!! Then I remembered Emry had an early morning appointment in Calgary the day after Family Day, so we decided to go to Calgary the day before and the kids and I would stay over with my dad. And since we were going to Calgary who better to spend the day with than the Atwood's?! Luckily they didn't have any plans and readily agreed to go swimming with us! We went to the Southland Leisure Centre where they have waves and water slides. When we got there we were sure we wouldn't be getting in, the line up to pay was long and there were already a ton of people in the pool! But luck was on our side and we did get in! It was busy!!! I hung out with Emry since I totally forgot she couldn't get her cast wet, Lalainia actually reminded me, oops!! But Jason saran wrapped it and taped it good. We waded in the big pool up to our waists, went to the hot tub a couple of times and hung out in the kiddie pool with Cadence for a bit. It was still lots of fun, she didn't complain once!!
Jared hung out with Bowen and Armin and said it was hilarious being with Bow. He would stand facing Jared and talk to him the whole time, even when the waves were going, he just went up and down and talked and talked! He would also tread water but when he got tired he would just put his hand on Jared's shoulder and rest for a bit before going back to treading water!!! It was funny to see. Bowen is such a character!!! Jared said he likes that his nephews feel comfortable enough with him to do that!! It made him feel special!
Ashton and Calum hung out together, which was really good for them as they don't get that chance very often! Calum was being a true gentleman and would retrieve the big ball for everyone standing in line and then after everyone had a turn he would go!! Ashton helped too when Calum was in the water. What examples those Atwood boys are, love them so much, so glad we went with them and our kids have a relationship with their Calgary cousins!!!
After swimming we all headed over to Dairy Queen for some supper and dessert. The kids were at one table and us adults at the other!! So much fun. The kids laughed while they ate and just loved being with each other!
It was a wonderful Family Day, spent with those we love. It was great getting together with the Atwood's, hopefully we can do it again soon!!
I'm grateful for fantastic Uncles who are willing to let their nephews chew their ears off. Ha ha!
