Hiking Sheep River Falls

This summer we did an easier hike, or so we thought! We hiked to the Sheep River Falls! It was a rather easy hike, not too steep, but it was also 15 kilometres round trip!!! It took us a good three hours to get to the falls, which were beautiful and totally worth the rugged trail climbing. The boys and Jared jumped into the frigid pool under the falls and about froze! Jared did it three times the boys only once! But great memories were made! On the way back we hustled wanting to make it out before dark! Up at the falls we made macaroni and cheese with sausages and Jared made the kids bannock, their first time having it! They LOVED it, Emry especially! On our way back, while hustling Armin stopped and asked if we could say a prayer! He was feeling pretty weary and knew if we asked Heavenly Father for help we’d make it back to our car! The faith of little children amazes me! So we all stopped and I said a little prayer! Armin said it made him feel better and we were able to continue on! We got to our car just as it was getting dark!

Swimming and Camping

For swimming lessons this year we decided to camp in Champion! We camped with Buck and Arren behind the fireball. It was actually kinda crappy weather, windy and rainy! But despite that we had fun! Swimming, eating yummy food and visiting!  The kids had a great time with Jared in the pool riding high on each other’s shoulders while to to knock each other down! We were also able to camp at Little Bow one weekend, and luckily nothing was broken!! We had a really nice spot with trees! We hung out, ate lots, roasted many marshmallows and just enjoyed being together as a family!!! We went boating, swimming and walks to the concession for ice cream! A great getaway!

Haying and Changing a Tire

Haying went well this year, though not many bales resulted in all that hard work and long hours! I helped out a little with raking. One evening coming home from helping Jared I got a flat tire. He had no car to jump in and rush down to help me so I resorted to helping myself! And I did it! His lesson with the young women one night really paid off!

Moving Cows to Greener Pasture

In June we finally moved cows to greener pasture, it seemed like we were behind schedule all year with preg testing and weaning being later than usual!  The cows are always happy to move and the calves did well this year too, no unusual hiccups!  I am always recruited to drive the tractor ahead of the herd so it’s hard to get pictures! Emry got some cute pictures of Gibson, he’s sure getting old, but treks right along with us!!
