What a Day

The pharmacy where I work was closed on Good Friday, but was opened the next day...Saturday! My "boss" has a son who plays hockey for the Seattle Thunderbirds and they managed to make it to the playoffs! Their team was considered the underdogs but they beat Kelowna ( the top rated WHL team) three out of four games!! During overtime in the third game Evan, my bosses son, scored the winning goal, so he is really quite good!

Anyway, the Thunderbirds were playing in Kelowna tonight and my boss desperately wanted to go so I offered to work for her! Though little did I know that Jared had planned to take me shopping to make up for my lack of birthday present!! My boss said I would only have to work until three because Saturdays are generally very slow!! So not the case with this particular Saturday!! I think because we were closed for Good Friday lots of people realized they were in need of medicine and couldn't refill since we were closed! It was pretty insane today but together the Pharmacist and I managed to keep everything running smoothly, but I ended up staying till the bitter end!! Thankfully we decided to go to the city yesterday to do some much needed grocery shopping and even fit in a little retail therapy!!

Jared spent the day with the boys and although he didn't get a lot done they had fun and managed to take a load to the dump!! Emry stayed over at Lily's and had a great time!! So despite having to work the Saturday of Easter weekend, I think it was a good weekend none the less!!

Happy Birthday to Me!

I had a wonderful 31st birthday on thursday!  I didn't have to work so I went to Lethbridge with Jared for a Bull Sale!  My sister and brother-in-law came too, so we decided to go out for lunch before the sale!  Jared has never been to an auction sale before so he asked Buck to come along and coach him on what to look for in a good bull.  He helped immensely!

The four of us went to Five Guys Burgers and Fries for lunch and it was soooooo yummy!  Oh, as we were leaving home I asked what the weather was like outside, Arren informed me that it was gorgeous, so I wore a light sweater!  By the time we drove out to Balog's the weather had definitely turned cooler,  and by the time the auction was over only two hours later there was at least a quarter of an inch of snow on the ground!!

Dave also met us at the auction, which was great for Jared having Dave's input in deciding which bull to bid on!  While we were sitting in the arena Jared turned to Dave and whispered, "Are you going to do the bidding?"  Dave turned back and whispered, "No, you do it!!"  Before the auction had started the guys went out and looked at all the bulls and determined which were their top picks, when they came into the little cafe, frozen to the core, they then looked over all the statistics for each bull, they picked their number one and hoped it wouldn't go for more then their allotted $2000-$2500.  When 232, their top pick, came out Jared raised his hand to bid, and then again, and again....and then SOLD to Mr.  "Pozey" for $2000!  He really is a good looking bull, the guys decided to name him after his father and grandfather Mambo!  I guess the purebred bulls are all given names, though Mambo's father and grandfather had a much longer name, Mambo was just one of the many names that made up the loooooong name.  So we just kept it simple and left it only as Mambo!

We got home around 4:30pm to find the boys didn't have my Dad, Grandpa Glen, tied up and gagged! They seemed to have a great time together!  Dad did have to change a super smelly diaper, which Armin found absolutely hilarious!  Dad was gagging and dry heaving all while Armin was laughing!  When we got home Dad asked Armin what Grandpa did when he changed his diaper, and with a huge grin Armin stuck out his tongue and gagged and coughed!  It was really quite funny!  I did feel bad because Armin has been having some of the smoothie I have been making for Jared and I every morning, a blueberry, spinach and carrot juice smoothie!!

Once home we put the frozen pizzas in the oven that dad had brought with him and we had a birthday party!!  Mom and Mark brought the paper plates, a huge lifesaver and Arren made a cake!!  It was lots of fun spent with my favourite people!  After cake we were sitting around visiting when a little lull in the conversation came so Calum chimed in, "What games are we going to play?"  So cute!  Arren gave me the cutest little cupcake stands!  Like a big cake stand only mini!!  Emry and Lily made me a necklace with jingle bells on it!!  It too was so cute!

I had a great day, spent with Jared, my very best friend, and all my family!  I really couldn't have asked for a better way to spend the day!

Rough Night

Armin started really crying in the very early hours this morning, 2:30am to be exact! So I went and got him, gave him some milk, and together we crawled into bed next to Jared!! That wasn't too bad, at least I was able to get back to sleep! The next rough part of the night was when Calum crawled into bed with us at 4:30am! I must admit I did manage to sleep for another hour before I had to get up and shower for work, but it was mighty squishy in our bed!! After I came out of the shower I was quite amazed that both boys were still sleeping, so I took a picture of them!! Seeing them so peaceful seemed to make the rough night not so bad!!! I sure love those boys!!

Catch Up Day

I wasn't scheduled to work today so I am using it to catch up on somethings at home and spend time with my sweet little boys!  The weather is still gorgeous so we may have to go outside for a little while!  Miraculously, the house has stayed clean so I just need to do the usual weekly cleaning...laundry, bathrooms, dusting and mopping!  I also need to make cookies for the Kub Kar Rally on Saturday.  But other than these minor tasks I am excited to be home.  As I am sitting here typing this I can hear Armin has woken up and Calum is laying in his bed with him and they are talking!  They really are good pals, they have fun together no matter what they are doing!  Even though WE can't understand Armin that well, Calum really seems to be able to and they have these cute conversations!

I have enjoyed my first week of work, I have really learned a lot.  It is nice being able to use my brain in a different way!  The creation of man really is quite amazing to me, and I can't imagine how some believe we have evolved into what we are, there is just too much detail in each individual...I know without a doubt that the only way we could have been created is by someone who is just like us.  Wow!  Totally off topic, but the thought just came and the next thing I knew I was writing it out!

I got up this morning while Jared was out feeding cows to make his lunch and his usual morning smoothie.  When he came in I handed him his loot and he said he was sad that I wasn't coming with him this morning.  It made me feel super special that he would miss those 20 minutes in the car with me!  I sure love him and I am so thankful for the husband, friend and father he is.  He works hard yet he is still able to spend time with us.  I look forward to my 20 minutes of complete alone time with him too and I look forward to tomorrow morning!

On Top of the World

Jared texted me a picture of him and Dave at the top of Castle Mountain, and his caption said, "Skiing in the sun!!!" I am so happy they are having a good day, they both deserve it with how much work they have been doing!! The text brought a smile to my face and made me feel tingly all over knowing my husband was having a blast doing what he loves!!

Silly Boy!

Two days before I started my new job Armin decided he desperately wanted to go swimming!! And when I told him the swimming pool won't open until summer he didn't seem disappointed, he decided he wanted to wear a swimming suit and water wings regardless if we were going swimming or not!! So this is how he looked all afternoon, right until I changed him into his pajamas!!

Working Girl

An opportunity for me to start working away from home came up and after much thought Jared and I decided it was the right thing to do. I asked if the local Pharmacy was looking to hire anyone last September and the pharmacy manager said she would be looking for someone in January. Well January came and went, but she approached me one day that month and said she was getting things ready to have me start in March if I was still interested. I told her Jared and I needed to crunch some numbers and look into child care for the boys. Once we had everything lined up on our end I told her I was super interested!! I started my first day this morning at 9:00 am, and I loved every minute of it!! Even with it being my first day I was able to find the proper medication to fill dossets, as well as other patient prescriptions (don't worry, EVERYTHING is checked by the pharmacist!!). I also helped customers at the till and put away stock that came in! The day went by quite quickly and when 6:00 pm came I walked out to the parking lot where I was greeted by my very best friend in a nice warm car!! I think the absolute best part about me taking this job is being able to spend some much needed adult time with Jared in the car on the way to work and on the way home!! We have adult conversations and I can actually hear every word he says, there aren't any interruptions by loud little boys either!! I missed the boys today, and I know that will only get worse, but I also enjoyed the change! I will be working three days a week with the occasional fourth!! I am excited to increase my knowledge and help with our family finances! It will be a wonderful experience and I am looking forward to the months ahead! After much thought, Jared and I know I wouldn't have been able to do this without the willing help from our family! My mom and Jared's mom have both unselfishly offered to watch the kids while I am at work. It makes it a long day for them without the freedom to do what they want or even what they need to do. But we are so thankful for them and their willingness to help us out! I am also grateful for my dad and for offering to take the boys when he is in between trips! This will be a great adventure for us all and I am so thankful for all those willing to help!!
