Double Digits

Calum turned 10 years old at the end of September.  I can't believe he is 10, where does the time go?  He is such a special boy, who is kind and compassionate.  He can be a little annoying but any boy at that age can!!!!  He is always giving me hugs and kisses and tells me when I look nice!!!

This year for his birthday he requested hot dogs and ice cream cake!!!  To make the hotdogs more adult friendly I always make chilli and we have chilli cheese dogs too!!!  I wasn't going to the city and wouldn't be able to get him an ice cream cake so I made one, and boy was it ever yummy!!!!  I made a brownie crust and them mixed crushed Oreos into vanilla ice cream!!!  After I though it would have been simpler to just buy cookies and cream ice cream but this worked too and wasn't too much hassle!!  Calum loved his cake!!!!  We missed my dad at his party, he had to be in Edmonton to unload potatoes.  But we enjoyed having Grandma Debbie and Grandpa Mark and Owen, Arren and Buck and Gil and Lily.  It was a great night of celebrating for a great boy.

Jared and I did our annual take the birthday kid out, just one on one.  It is so fun doing this.  Calum picked out some Lego sets with the money he got for his birthday.  We ate at the mall, his choosing, and then went to a movie.  We had wanted to see Jurassic World fallen Kingdom but that theatre was being rented out for a party :( so we went and saw Hotel Transylvania 3.  What a horrible movie, but Calum liked it, and that's what counts!!!!  It was a great night...

Honor Ride

Emry went for her 2nd annual Honor Ride with Mark this month.  His bike club does this each year where they ride their motorcycles from Calgary through to Bragg Creek and then Nanton.  Then they have a lunch and an auction where the money raised goes to local charities.  It was cold this year, plus 5 was all it got to.  But she had fun none the less.  She borrowed some chaps and boots from Grandma and warmer gloves then what she brought, and Grandma even had a leather jacket for her to wear.  She was all decked out and fit right in!!!!

First Day of School

Everyone was excited for the first day of school this year!!!  The kids were excited to see their friends and I was excited to get back into a routine.  Armin was getting a little bored by the end of summer and needed more than I could give to get him out of the boredom blues.  They had a great first day seeing friends, meeting new classmates and getting to know their teachers and schedules.

Emry is in Grade Nine this year, am I ready for that?  She will make memories with her friends that she will hold onto for a very long time.  She will be graduating this year and moving onto the High School.  My goodness time flies.

Calum starts Grade Five this year which gives him a new teacher.  He really likes her and things have been going really well so far.  She is a little stricter than what he has been used to but they are getting along good.

Armin is in Grade Two this year and has the same teacher he had for Grade One so no new surprises there!!  He does have a new group of kids though to hangout with, which he likes.  He's also considered a big kid now that the Kindergarteners have graduated into Grade One.

I wish for them a year full of many wonderful memories.  Memories they will be able to carry with them for many years to come.  I hope they find good friends and surround themselves with many good things.  School is a big part of their lives and I hope it meets all their expectations.

Grandma and Grandpa

The Sunday before school started we had dinner with my mom and Mark and Owen.  All the grandkids were together so we decided to do an impromptu photo session with Grandma and Grandpa and all their littles!!!  Well not so little anymore!!!  It was a beautiful day, where have those gone???  And we got some cute shots.  It is so much fun at Grandma and Grandpa's.  The kids always have fun there!!!!

Grandpa and Emry

Calum, Emry, Lily, Maryssa, Owen, Gilbert and Armin

All the kids wore one of Mark's Hawaiian shirts, boy he has a lot!!!!

No Bull

My mom took this picture of Buck and Arren's bulls earlier this year and I thought it was hilarious.  One bull was playing with a tree branch and the others were all just casually posing for the picture!!!

Girls Club Part 2

Since it was too cloudy to go for a plane ride the first time Grandpa tried with the girls it was rescheduled for another day!!!  Instead of going for a plane ride they went shopping and to a movie!!  Lily and Emry each came home with a new hoodie and they went and saw Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom!!  But no worries, they did eventually get in the air.  Emry was so nervous to fly since she had never flown before.  She sat beside Grandpa Glen which I think was a huge saving factor in actually getting her in the plane.  They, like the boys flew over Champion and our farm!!!  But they also flew over Lily's farm.  I didn't make it home in time from work to catch them but Jared was at the farm and got a video of them flying quite low.  The plane waved at him again and off they flew back to Lethbridge.

What a neat experience for our kids to do this with Grandpa.  I am so thankful for all he does with his grandkids to develop such a close bond!!!  Emry loved every second of the plane ride and can't wait to be on one again!!!!

Kananaskis Hike

The weekend before school started we decided to do a little hike in the Kananaskis. We decided on Troll Falls, a very easy hike in and out, and some beautiful falls to see.  The drive out was beautiful, I love the mountains, so majestic.  We got to the parking lot where the hike starts and boy was it full.  Because it was a long weekend and the last before school started everyone had the same idea!!

The hike in was fairly easy, my kind of hike!!  We stopped lots to take pictures.

The falls were beautiful, and kind of mysterious.  The legend has it that a troll actually inhabits the area, we even saw his face frozen in the rocks!!!!  There were lots of people there looking at the falls, but it was still fun and we got some pretty cool pictures.

On our way back out we noticed a sign for the Upper Falls.  The boys really wanted to do it, I wasn't sure.  My lungs are so bad since I had that blood clot in them, but we went and am I ever glad we did.  I didn't make it all the way to the falls as I set a slower pace then everyone else and they were headed back down as I was trudging along!!!  The Upper Falls weren't as spectacular as the Troll Falls but it was still neat to see!!!

Driving home we made a loop around where we started and ended up in High River.  Just in time for some supper where we ate at Boston Pizza.

It was a fantastic day, I love spending time with my family.  And what a great way to end off such a great summer.  Now its back to school, back to routines and back to reality!!!!

Owen’s 17th Birthday

For Owen’s 17th birthday we took him boating!!! Boating seems to be what we do best in summer!!!!  It was a perfect evening! No wind, the water was calm!!! My mom made a very yummy ham and we used it to make sandwiches on the beach!! I made Myrna’s chicken pasta salad and mini cheesecakes for dessert!!! It was a great birthday!!!

I can remember when Owen was born, I got to be in the delivery room and I thought it was the neatest thing watching a baby being born, such a miracle!!! Now he’s tall and 17!!! Where does the time go!! He is such a kind hearted, quiet yet compassionate young man!!! I sure love him and I’m thankful for the example he is to my kids!!!

Puzey Family Get Together

Last weekend we had a mini reunion of sorts!!! All the Puzey siblings and their families got together at the farm!! We divied up meals, spent an entire day at the lake in plus 40, went to the Trek Centre to see Leah and get ice cream and just sat around and visited!!!! The kids had a blast with each other just hanging out!!! Cadence loved her Emry and always wanted her to take her out and see the kittens! Boating was a huge success!!! All the kids tubed or rode in the boat!!! The littlest girls weren’t interested in tubing but had fun playing in the sand!!! Blake, Calum, Jonas and Armin all went knee boarding and had fun and got up on their first try!!! We started at roughly 10 in the morning and went clear until 6 that evening!!!  The only saving grace from the awful heat was plunging into the lake!!! And as much as I hate swimming in the lake even I took the plunge!!!!

We sure missed Myrna but are so proud of her serving a mission!!!! We are ever so grateful we could use her house and all come together!!!
