A Day in the Big City

The kids and I drove into Calgary yesterday to have some fun!! The main reason for going was to go to the Lego Store at Chinook Mall! I told Calum that if he was a good boy all week for Grandma Puzey and Grandma Debbie we would go to the Lego store and he could build his very own Lego guy! Well, he was very good and listened very well!

So Friday morning we got up, had breakfast, got ready and headed out the door! We made a stop in Vulcan to wash the van, fill up with gas and cash my child health tax cheque for our sending spree in the big city!!! The drive up was so quite...Calum and Emry played really nice with each other in the back, while Armin kept himself occupied with a toy tractor! When we got to the mall we had a fun time looking for a non existent parking spot!! Finally we made our way into the north parkade and again had fun looking!! This particular parkade was cool because it had a red or green light above each parking stall, red if it was occupied, green if it was empty!! When we found a green one we piled out of the van and Emry put the letter and number of our section to her memory!!

When we got into the mall we were greeted by an escalator!! The kids thought this was the coolest thing!!! And since the Lego store is on the second level of the mall we got to go up two escalators in a row!!! We spent quite awhile in the Lego store building guys!! Calum and Emry each built three, and had fun putting their own unique touches on them!! Then we headed over to the food court and had some lunch! After lunch I took them on the merry go round! Which Calum was quite terrified of at first and then started to realize how much fun it was!! Lastly we stopped at Discovery Hut Toys, where Armin and Calum played with Thomas the train and Emry searched for a perfect stuffy!! She found a great horned owl and we couldn't pass it up!!

Finally we were in the van and on our way home!! I was so impressed with how well behaved all three of our beautiful children were!! On the way home my heart melted and was so full of love for these three perfect kids when Calum says from the back of the van, "that was so much fun, thank you momma!"

I think we deserved a day to just have fun even it did mean spending some money! And to top off an already perfect day we stopped in Vulcan on our way home to pick Jared up after he was gone all week in Regina for John Deere training!! It was so good to see him and to hug him!!

And as soon as we got home we all piled in the cow checking truck to go see the five calves we had...and great thanks go to Dave for coming out everyday to check the cows and tag those five new little calves!! It was a huge stress off Jared knowing his brother was there to take care of things!! This is Jared's favorite time of the year with the cows, and it showed this morning when he and Emry went out very early to check and tag another new little calf and watch one being born!!

I am truly thankful for my family and for the closeness we share!! I love how Emry loves helping her dad and sticks close by him when he's out doing chores!!
