Family Dance

Last Thursday was the annual Champion School Family Dance!  We were able to get out of it last year because Emry was only in Kindergarten and they didn't practice the dances like they do once they get into grade one!  In gym class for about the last month they have been learning how to do the Bunny Hop, the Virginia Reel, the Butterfly, the Chicken Dance and the Macarena!  Everyday after school she would show us little snippets of some of the dances and ask how many more sleeps until the dance!  There was no way we could get out of it this year!  However, we couldn't get there until just after 8 pm, an hour after it started because mommy and daddy had to sing in the Vulcan Choral Festival, which has always taken place the same night!  Emry happened to miss all the dances she learned, except the Limbo.  When they announced last song she started to cry, so I went to the DJ, who happened to be Nathan Jackson a friend of ours, and asked him if he could play the Macarena one more time for Emry!  He said a couple minutes of it wouldn't hurt!  So they ended the family dance with the Macarena, it made Emry happy!  Calum got right into doing the Macarena too, only he always jumped and turned just a little late!

Dr. Calum

Calum and Emry love to play doctor!  They take turns checking each other out, when Emry is done Calum says, "My turn, my turn."  And when he is done he says "Emmy's turn, Emmy's turn!"  The other night he was checking out Woody!  He propped him up on a little granite tea light holder, covered him with a baby wipe and then pretended to put cream on him, at one point he even gave Woody some of his milk!  It was really cute to watch, once in a while we catch Calum playing calmly and quietly!  He does love to sit and play with his toys, something I am extremely grateful for when I am busy nursing Armin!

Armin's First Bath at Home!

Sunday morning Emry and I gave little Armin his first bath at home!  Since David and Myrna no longer have a bath tub we had to do it in a bowl!  When Calum was a new born we used a little infant tub and kept it in the laundry room, but it was more of a nuisance than anything, so we decided to just use the big plastic bowl, and it works pretty good!  He isn't a fan of his bath, but I don't know if I would be either.  He is still so little and I am sure it is freezing without any clothes on!

Emry took all the pictures!

Grandpa's Newest Fishing Partner!

My dad always tries to do something special with his grandchildren, earlier this fall he took Emry and Lily to the Build a Bear Workshop, and he has taken Gilbert fishing a couple of times, he even camped one night with him!!  When Calum and Armin get a little bigger, out of diapers bigger, he will take all the boys!  He really is a proud Grandpa and I know our kids absolutely adore him!

Pals!!

I went upstairs to put the last load of laundry in the dryer, when I came back down Calum was lying beside Armin on the couch under the same blanket!  He was just cuddling him and watching his show!  I have to admit that I have been a little nervous of what Calum might do to Armin when I am not looking, but when I saw this most of my fears have been put aside!  He has a tender heart just like his daddy, every so often he will stop playing and walk over to where Armin is laying and give him a kiss on his forehead!  I don't want to make the baby off limits to Calum in case this makes him jealous, and he is so tough I think he doesn't realize he could actually be hurting him.  Anyway, this picture melted my heart, I am excited to see what the future will bring these two precious little boys, although it can take its time, I absolutely love this newborn stage!  What a little miracle to see him in person it is really hard to believe he was in my tummy only one week ago!

The happiest big sister, all she wants to do is hold him!

He looks so tiny in his seat!

Our three beautiful children!

Well, our newest little bundle came even earlier than expected!  He sure was ready to come out and greet the world!  Armin David Puzey was born Monday November 29, 2010 at 10:41pm, about 14 days early!  He was due the 10th or the 12th of December but I was scheduled to be induced December 1st!  Because I had to take blood thinners while I was pregnant it is easier for the doctor to induce me and know the blood thinner is out of my system instead of chancing it by going into labour and then maybe bleeding to death.  Armin had a different idea altogether!  My water broke Monday night while I was laying down with Calum to put him to bed just before 9 pm.  Jared was not willing to play around so we left for the hospital right away!  The roads weren't great, plus it was foggy so we had to obey the speed limit.  My contractions still weren't unbearable but they did get a little closer together, about 4-5 minutes apart the entire drive to the hospital.  Once we got to the hospital we had to check in at Emergency, Jared parked the car as close as he could to the Emergency entrance and together we walked in, my contractions still manageable!  Once inside I sat down because there was a couple ahead of us checking in.  My contractions got a little more intense and became about 2 minutes apart.  While I was giving my information they got more intense yet but still not unbearable!  Once we finally got up to the labour and delivery floor it was 10:15pm.  I asked the nurses if I could go to the bathroom, but they desperately wanted to get my weight first, once in the bathroom they desperately wanted to get me on the bed to check how much I was dilated, 5 cm, and finally the contractions felt somewhat unbearable!  By the time I got onto the bed to the time the baby was born was only about 5 minutes, the nurse checking me had to have one of the other nurses help her put her glove on so she could ease the baby out!  The doctor missed everything!  It all happened so fast I think I may have missed some of it too!  Even though little Armin had to spend the night in the NICU, he is fine and it was more to observe him that he didn't get any kind of infection from how fast the delivery was.  He looks just like Jared when he was a baby, and he has Emry's extremely long fingers!  He is a very good baby, he nurses perfectly and rarely cries, mostly squeaks!  Emry absolutely loves him, Calum is a little indifferent, but I know they will be pals!  We are excited to have a new little one in our home and can't wait to see what kind of personality he develops!

Decorating the Christmas Tree

Monday was a very eventful day for us!  I started to have regular type pains in my tummy, but dismissed them to be Braxton hicks!  That is until I googled early signs of labour, and talked to my mom!  I was definitely having contractions!  Calum and I set up the Christmas tree earlier that morning so it would be ready to decorate for Family Home Evening! I ended up calling Jared just before lunch and he came home to take me to the hospital, my contractions were about 9-10 minutes apart but not very intense, I was still able to pack a bag, clean the bathroom and put away the laundry, though we went to the hospital anyway!  We got to the hospital by 2pm, were checked out and sent home!  The nurse who sent us home seemed pretty certain we wouldn't be back until my scheduled induction Wednesday morning, so we decided to go back home so Jared could feed the cows in case we were back to the hospital sooner!  We got home just as Emry was to get off the bus so she went out to help Jared feed the cows, he fed them enough for three days so he wouldn't have to worry about them at all.

Grandpa Glen gave Calum this shirt for his 2nd birthday, extremely fitting!

Thanks Jared for the picture of me while I was unaware I was actually in labour!

He really is the "Master of Disaster"

We had a nice evening together as a family.  We were able to decorated the tree, we watched shows and just as I was putting Calum to bed my water broke!  The strangest thing was Emry seemed to predict that we would be going to the hospital that night.  When she got home from school we told her that mommy might have the baby real soon, she asked when we had to leave and when we told her we weren't sure, she, off the top of her head, said tonight at 9pm?  My water broke just before 9 that night!
